January

The Long Stone, Mottistone – a chilly grey day walking Stan our temporary lodger.

February

Figs in February, Brading Roman Villa. A lovely place to visit, very interesting insight into life on the Wight in Roman times. The cafe is fabulous too.

March

Another chilly walk, this time from Bramble Chine to Totland Bay. Had the beach all to ourselves.

April

The best part of my working day is taking Bobby for a lunch time walk. What a beautiful discovery – a wood full of Bluebells!

May

In May I Walked the Wight! Well, I actually walked half the Wight. 14 miles of stunning views. 2018 I will Walk the Wight – the whole walk!

June

I’ve not yet mastered swimming in the sea, that’ll be 2018, but I’m always up for a paddle especially when the sea is clear and warm.

July

It’s lovely to visit the mainland but nothing beats coming back, especially when the ferry trip includes a glass of Fuggle Dee Dum!

August

August is a very busy month on the Island. So much to do! One thing we’ve loved for years is watching the jousting at Carisbrooke Castle. Lovely sunny afternoon watching the horses charge towards one another.

September

A big step for me, I started running! Well, when I say running it’s more a slow jog but faster than a walk! I followed a couch to 5k podcast with Sarah Milligan telling me what to do, when to walk when to run and help keep me motivated. I’d always dreamed of running along the sea front and in September 2017 I did! From Totland Bay to Colwell, probably not even a mile but it was fab. Not the most glamorous photo, it was pouring with rain, but very proud of myself. I’m looking forward to resuming the ‘running’ in 2018.

October

21st October was a very storming day! The West Wight took a battering with high winds and crashing waves. I struggled to stay upright taking this photo from Compton Bay to Freshwater. Stunningly beautiful.

November

Down to Yarmouth to watch the fireworks. An event organised by Yarmouth Carnival Committee. We walked from the village square following the FAT Samba band. All a bit pagan – touches and drums! But good fun. The fireworks were fabulous.

December

After weeks of noise and disruption The Avenue reopened. How smart it looks now.
